William G. MacKenzie Sr., 97.

HOLDEN - William G. MacKenzie, Sr., 97, died on Thursday, June 20, 2013 following a period of declining health. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late William G. and Eliza (Bremner) MacKenzie and had lived in Holden for more than 60 years.

William is survived by his wife of 68 years, Veronica E. (Yankus) MacKenzie of Worcester; a daughter, Dorothy J. (MacKenzie) Parker and her husband Richard of Hudson; a son, William G. MacKenzie, Jr. and his wife Catherine of Houston, TX; four granddaughters, Kristine (Parker) Sherman of Hudson, Alison (MacKenzie) Luce of Austin, TX, Ashley MacKenzie of Omaha, NE and Audrey MacKenzie of Houston, TX; and five great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Field, Margaret Garabedian and Jean Johnson.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946 and was deployed to Okinawa. William was employed by the Standard Foundry of Worcester before retiring in 1977. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of...
