CROSS-COUNTRY

Worcester City Meet: The WPI men won their 19th straight championship and 40th overall, while the WPI women won their fifth in a row, led by Vicky Hewey's fourth straight individual title.

Assumption sophomore Tony Fierimonte captured the 5-mile men's race in 27 minutes, 9.42 seconds, while Hewey finished in 19:57.20 at Moore State Park in Paxton.

Junior Nathan Buck (27:37.56) was the men's runner-up, followed by WPI sophomore Andrew Zayac (27:38.36), WPI senior Josh Brodin (27:52.76) and WPI junior Rob Hollinger (27:57.93).

WPI swept the first five spots in the 5K women's race with freshman Julie Tevenan (20:04.93) placing second, followed by sophomore Maria Grandoni (20:11.30), junior Amy Babeu (20:28.27) and junior Hannah McCallum (20:31.06).

MEN'S SOCCER

Becker 7, Wheelock 1: Freshman midfielder Brian Ferraro scored his first two career goals to lead the Hawks (1-8, 1-0 NECC) in Boston.

Bentley 2, Assumption 1: The Greyhounds (2-4, 1-3 Northeast-10) capitalized on an own-goal in the 80th minute but lost in double overtime in Waltham.

Westfield State 2, Fitchburg State 1: Jason Pereira scored on penalty kick in the 58th minute but the visiting Falcons (1-6-1, 0-0-2 MASCAC) lost.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Babson 3, WPI 2: Megan Forti had a goal and an assist, and Courtney Langley also scored for the visiting Engineers (3-5, 0-2 NEWMAC).

Becker 10, Wheelock 0: Sophomore forward Alycia Dery of Millville scored a season-high five goals and added two assists as the visiting Hawks (3-2-2) extended their unbeaten streak to five games.

Holy Cross 1, Manhattan 0: Senior forward Hannah Earner scored for the Crusaders (4-5-1) in Riverdale, N.Y.

MIT 2, Clark 1: Hana Chamoun scored in the 80th minute for the host Cougars (2-5-1).
