Year in Review 2010: May through August.

Catherine Falvey, 98, was the latest Lancaster recipient of the Boston Post Cane, given to the oldest person in town. "I didn't do anything special," Falvey said. "God just made it happen."

Berlin town meeting voters approved the new Tahanto building project with one no and 197 yes votes.

Jillian Roberts was named Clinton Idol. The multi-week project was a fundraiser for the Clinton Rotary Scholarship Fund. Roberts sang "Stand Up for Love." Second place went to Jayson Iorio, of Sterling, who performed "What's Left of Me." Third place was awarded to Laura Galeski, of Clinton, whose finale performance was "O Mio Babbino Caro," by Puccini.

The Clinton Advanced Science Workshop at Clinton Middle School concluded its CSI-type program by presenting the "Case of the Dead Fish."

The Sterling DestiNation Imagination team got a chance to compete at the University of Tennessee. Five team members, from Chocksett Middle School, called themselves the "Green Recyclers."

Dave Lindsay won a close race to become the newest Bolton selectman. Lindsay, who had been a member of the Advisory Committee, outpolled Stan Wysocki by seven votes. Bolton has a history of close selectmen's races. In 2008, Wysocki won by a 20-vote margin over Connie Benjamin. In 2009, Curt Plante won by a two-vote margin over Larry Delaney.

Rain didn't deter a record number of runners from completing the 32nd annual tribute Road Race. Keiron Tumbleton was the top man in the 379-runner field. Jennifer Davidson was the first woman to cross the finish line.

The Clinton Council on Aging voted to have a subcommittee meet with the Clinton Home Foundation to negotiate how it would work to use the former Clinton Home, 271 Church St., as a new senior center.

David Hazel, a longtime educator in Clinton, was remembered for his quick wit and caring after his death at age 75.

Sterling business owner Michael Padula fell five votes short in his bid to unseat longtime incumbent Paul Sushchyk for a three-year seat on the Board of Selectmen.

Nashoba Regional High School announced that Samantha Squires was the senior class valedictorian and Samantha Lindsay was the salutatorian.
